Mangrove trees, Rhizophora or Avicennia, do thrive very well in pots. Though they have extensive root system but they do not pose any problems when planting these trees in pots. The growth rate is excellent hitting almost 2 meter in 18 months and probably faster after this age. Can be planted directly into ponds, yes freshwater ponds.
These trees can easily be acclimatised from brackish water to freshwater.
Probably, there will be more trees in your lakes soon.
