Talabhat Suksa School. Thailand by ASA
One of the ways to explore and seek inspiration whenever you are in Bangkok is to visit the well organised expos or exhibitions there.
The main entrance to ARCH2009 Expo has a very creative display by ASA (Association of Siamese Architects). The exhibit booths were all created from paper board with models, posters and a host of other creative architectural art strongly tied to environmental theme. There were a few impressive display of models in the modeling category but what attracted me were the hand drawn line art of Talabhat Suksa School. Pieces and more pieces showing the intricate detail of all part of drawings from roofs to doors, shade and shadows with nothing missing out of its old aged facade.
This is the place where everyone in design field is trying to put their best in term of creativity with logical thinking coupled with the current demand for green design. “Green is an essence ….not a trend” as one put up. How true and therefore what it means by eco-project? Eco friendly, eco building, eco green, green building…. what are these eco..? To understand the so-called eco-concept, one must study the ecology of environment or more specifically, landscape ecology. If these terms became nauseating by first look, then let me put it in the most simplest cave-man term..eco-environment is “no chemical, no vehicle”. How eco is your eco design? Close or closed?

A design by Behnisch Architekten + Transsolar ClimateEngineering
A booth by Behnisch Architekten + Transsolar ClimateEngineering was truly a place worthwhile to spend your time there. Educational descriptions on the application of natural and environmental friendly approach to architectural design were all over their booth. Impressive exhibits. Do anyone read?
In Thailand, there are always some very down to village nature architects who design passionately, intimately and clearly natural to the core. Try those from Arsom Silp Institute of Arts & Development.
Words cannot describe my full day at Arch2009, Bangkok. You need eyes to tell. Be there at ARCH2010 if you plan to strip off your techno-skin to green.
